Scandinavia Comes to Old Town

Join Classical Tuesdays in Old Town for an evening of Scandinavian culture as they open their 8th season!  Musicians Hale Bill & the Bopps and dance group Bygdedeal will rock the floorboards of Slavonian Hall with traditional tunes and footwork from the Nordic countries. All ages are welcome to attend. 

Classical Tuesdays is a free chamber music series showcasing the Puget Sound region’s professional musicians in a lovely neighborhood setting.

Where: Historic Slavonian Hall, 2306 N. 30th St., Tacoma (handicap parking and access in alley)

Hale Bill & the Bopps

Hale Bill & the Bopps plays traditional Scandinavian dance music in mostly traditional ways. Anticipate a variety of fiddles, including the Norwegian hardingfele and the Swedish nyckelharpa!, keyboards, and voices.

Bygdedea performing at Northwest Folklife

Bygdedeal members have earned medals from Svenska Ungdomsringen for Bygdekultur for their mastery of Swedish folk dancing. When not traveling in Norway and Sweden, they perform at Northwest Folklife and teach for Skandia Folkdance Society in Seattle.

Slavonian Hall in Old Town, Tacoma

Raffle tickets go on sale at the October 9th and November 13th concerts for a generous and beautiful gift basket.  The basket’s contents will be available for all to “ooh!” over at these concerts. Thanks to Josh Dunn and the staff of South Sound Magazine for gathering the gifts. Drawing to be held Nov 13th.
