Just say no to boring gifts: TCC Clay Club Pottery Sale

IMG_0824IMG_0744IMG_0836Frenzied shopping got you down? Beat the masses at the mall and head for Tacoma Community College for the TCC Clay Club Pottery & Art Sale. Okay, you may see scads of happy-faced regulars at this popular event, but plenty of choice handmade one-of-a-kind clay and visual art will be available for purchase. The sale is on Friday, December 7, 10 am-6 pm and Saturday,  December 8, 10 am – 2 pm in Building 11 of the TCC campus (6501 South 19th Street, Tacoma). A percentage of the sales goes to support TCC art scholarships and Clay Club activities.

Call for entries: 2013 RAGS Wearable Art Show

RAGS 19th Annual Benefit: Juried Show and Sale of Wearable Art

The YWCA RAGS Guild announces a call for entries for its 19th annual juried wearable art show and sale. RAGS will take place March 7-10, 2013, at Larson Mercedes-Benz of Fife. Open to artists working in all media of wearable art – clothing, fashion accessories and jewelry. A portion of the proceeds benefits domestic violence programs of the YWCA Pierce County. Application deadline is December 14, 2012.

There are two categories of entry, both with nonrefundable fees:
• Gallery – this juried competition of original, artist-made pieces ($15 per entry, up to three entries) is featured within the larger show for its duration. Cash prizes go to the best entry in garments, accessories, jewelry and Best of Show. Entries may be for sale or NFS.
• Marketplace – artist vendor sale of wearable art over the four days of the event ($35 entry fee)

Meet the Grantmakers at Second Annual Forum for Nonprofits

University of Puget Sound hosts an opportunity to meet major
charitable funders in person

Would you like to meet the people whose financial support could help your nonprofit venture achieve its goals? A rare opportunity to talk to representatives from up to 15 of Washington’s major grantmaking foundations and organizations will take place at University of Puget Sound on Friday, December 7, 2012.

Grantwriters and other officials from nonprofit groups are invited to come to the 7:30–10:30 am session, where they will be able to meet funders including The Boeing Company, Ben B. Cheney Foundation, M. J. Murdock Charitable Trust, The Russell Family Foundation, The Sequoia Foundation, Greater Tacoma Community Foundation, U.S. Bancorp Foundation, Bank of America, Safeco, and others. The forum, including a continental breakfast, will take place in Wheelock Student Center on campus. See below for more details, directions, and a map of campus.
