There are some cool jewelry events lined up on the Art at Work calendar this week:
Hand-stamped Charms at Tacoma Metal Arts Center (TMAC), Monday, November 12, 6-8:30 pm
TMAC 3rd Anniversary Party, Thursday, November 15, 5-9 pm
Beadmaking Workshops at the Museum of Glass, Thursday, November 15, noon-5 pm; special-rate session 5-7:30 pm
If you’re “not a jewelry person,” or seek only meaningful, one-of-a-kind jewelry to wear, then discover the beauty of hand-made charms in a class at Tacoma Metal Arts Center taught by TMAC owner, Amy Reeves. Learn to cut a metal blank with a disc cutter or blanking dies, then use alphabet and number stamps to personalize them. No experience necessary, and you’ll finish jewelry charms to take home! All supplies included. Students wishing to work in silver can bring sheet in 24 gauge or thicker. Monday, November 12, 6-8:30 pm. $35 includes materials. 711 St. Helens Ave #102, Tacoma, WA 98402. Phone: (253) 227-1694
TMAC is celebrating its 3rd anniversary this week with a party and open house during Third Thursday ArtWalk! On November 15, 5-9 pm, the metal arts center will feature free demos plus new work by students and instructors. A metal fold-forming demo at 5 pm will be followed by a torch-fired enamels demo.
