Lanford Wilson’s “5th of July” Coming July 19-20

19 Jun
Set in the late 1970s, Lanford Wilson’s Fifth of July is a bittersweet story about a Midwestern family trying to reconstruct itself upon the return home of a family member wounded in Vietnam. Ken is now living in his childhood home with his boyfriend, and during Independence Day weekend, the joys, fears and irony of striving to secure what “the good life has to offer” are on full display. As part of the 2012 Tacoma Pride Festival, this performance explores the importance of finding and embracing one’s place in the world. (Note: The material in this reading is not suitable for children or those offended by harsh language and adult situations.) Free post-show discussion to follow each reading. Broadway Center Rehearsal Studio III. Showtimes: July 19 at 7 pm; July 20 at 7 pm. Admission: $14; purchase tickets here.
