Urban Art Festival (UAF) 2012 is building a gallery out of wooden pallets!

UAF is seeking visual artists in all mediums to display work on the walls of this unusual gallery or to create installations in odd/mundane sites throughout the festival taking place June 30-July 1 on Thea Foss Waterway. The goal is to capture the energy and flavor of work being produced by Tacoma artists.  Submission is free and open to all.
DEADLINE to submit is June 15.  If interested in exhibiting an installation, please contact UAF – well, a week ago.  Artwork is encouraged to be for sale, with 60% going to the artist and 40% to the festival.  Electricity per approval.  Please e-mail digital images of the work you would like to show (5 images maximum), with artwork titles, medium, dimensions, price and description (optional).  Additional information (statement, bio, website, links) is encouraged but not required.  In the e-mail subject line please write “Art Submission UAF2012”. E-mail submissions to: urbanartfestival@yahoo.com. Questions? Contact Gabriel Brown at gabrielbbrown@yahoo.com or call 509-844-6069.

In other news, the Music & Art in Wright Park Festival (MAWP) is putting out a call to artists. MAWP is seeking artisans whose aesthetic leans toward indie arts and craft, and who take an innovative approach to traditional craft forms. This year’s festival takes place at Wright Park on August 11, noon to 7 pm. As in past years, the festival will feature music, art, food, activities for all ages, and more.
MAWP welcomes vendors and artist groups who create unique handmade arts and crafts such as handbags, pottery, letterpress stationery, paintings, silk-screened t-shirts, ‘zines, posters, body products and sculptures. Purveyors of vintage goods such as books, clothing and records are also welcome!
Applications will be accepted through July 31.Booth fees are $50 for a 10’ x 10’ space. Vendors are responsible for supplying their own display items (tent, tables, and chairs). A City of Tacoma business license is required to sell items in the park. If you don’t have a City of Tacoma business license, we can add you under our blanket license for an additional $10. For further info and vendor applications, visit the MAWP Facebook page.

You are right in that the 2013 Music and Art in Wright Park is this Saturday, August 10th. (This posting was from 2012 when the event was held on August 11th.)
