Budget Talks with Tacoma Arts Commission, March 12

To the Tacoma arts community:

You are invited to discuss the impact of recent budget cuts on Tacoma arts programs at the next meeting of the Tacoma Arts Commission, March 12. Commission Chair, Robin Echtle, has requested that we inform you of the upcoming discussion regarding policy that will affect the arts in Tacoma. All meetings of the Tacoma Arts Commission are open to the public.

At the March 12 meeting there will be an open discussion regarding the currently known impacts to the City’s arts budget, including impacts to funding, staffing, and programs such as Art at Work Month and Spaceworks Tacoma. There will also be discussion regarding proposed revenue-generating legislation to remove a 5% ticket tax exemption for certain non-profit arts and cultural organizations. As members of the arts community, we invite you to be a part of this conversation. Council members Marty Campbell and Lauren Walker will be in attendance.
