Singer, music director and teacher Erin Guinup will be presenting a lecture and performance on Female Musical Theatre Composers on Saturday, November 17 at 11 am at Lakewood Playhouse. This presentation will include the history of some amazing women – call them early theatrical Guerilla Girls – who bucked convention and to make indelible marks on musical theatre. The hour-long program will feature performances by singer Elise Campello (Village Theatre, TMP), pianist Tim Strong (UPS) and Guinup. Songs by Kay Swift, Mary Rodgers, Lucy Simon, Betty Comden, Jeanine Tesori, Georgia Stitt and Jenny Giering will be performed and combined with stories of these fascinating women. This presentation is FREE and sponsored by the Tacoma Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota.
