WHO: Artist Shawn Sheehy
WHAT: Concept to Action: Pop-Up Artists’ Books, a lecture by Shawn Sheehy
WHERE: Pacific Lutheran University, University Center Regency Room
WHEN: Thursday, March 15, 7 pm
ADMISSION: Free
How does one make an object as magical as a pop-up book? Where do the ideas and the skills come from to design, cut and fold a book in three dimensions? For artist Shawn Sheehy, an interest in biological and cultural evolution combines with paper engineering to produce books that are pop-up sculptures.
You can hear Shawn talk about the influences and experiences in his life that have enabled him to concept and design his books tomorrow night at Pacific Lutheran University at 7 pm. Shawn has taught workshops at PBI, Penland, the Centers for Book Arts in Chicago and New York, and many other venues across the U.S. His commercial pop-up clients include the American Girl Company, American Greetings and PeeWee Herman.
This event is sponsored by Pacific Lutheran University and Puget Sound Book Artists. It is free and open to the public.
